Nettitude CBEST

Nettitude Achieves CBEST Accreditation

Cyber security consultancy becomes one of the first UK companies to become an approved supplier of CBEST tests for the financial services sector

Nettitude, the global leader in the delivery of cyber security testing, risk management, compliance and incident response services, has today announced that it has achieved CBEST accreditation, becoming one of the first UK companies to achieve this status, with a fully accredited penetration testing team.

Developed by CREST alongside the Bank of England (BoE), CBEST is an intelligence led testing framework, which differs from other security testing currently undertaken by the financial services sector, as it focuses on the more sophisticated and persistent attacks against critical systems for essential services.  CBEST tests also include specific cyber threat intelligence, which ensures that the tests replicate as closely as possible the evolving threat landscape and therefore will remain relevant and up to date.

CBEST is the first initiative of its type and is designed to improve and test resilience to cyber-attacks across the financial services industry.  CBEST accredited companies undergo rigorous assessments and their professionals need to demonstrate extremely high levels of technical capability, experience and communication acumen.

“We are extremely proud to be among the first tranche of UK companies to achieve CBEST accreditation,” said Rowland Johnson, CEO of Nettitude.  “The new intelligence-led framework will ultimately improve the prevention, detection and response of the types of cyber-attack that could harm the UK’s financial services sector, which is something we’re very proud to be supporting.”

CREST STAR

Nettitude Awarded STAR (Simulated Targeted Attack and Response) Status by CREST

UK cyber security consultancy becomes one of the first to achieve STAR service provider status

Nettitude, the global leader in the delivery of cyber security testing, risk management, compliance and incident response services, has today announced that it is one of the first companies to be accredited to provide STAR (Simulated Targeted Attack and Response) services by the not-for-profit accreditation body, CREST, which represents the technical information security industry.

Working alongside the Bank of England (BoE), UK Government and industry, CREST developed the STAR framework to deliver controlled bespoke, intelligence-led cyber security testing.  STAR incorporates advanced penetration testing and threat intelligence services to more accurately replicate cyber security threats to critical assets.  Being part of the STAR scheme is also a prerequisite for membership of the BoE CBEST scheme that was announced earlier in the year and aims to provide assurance to the most critical parts of the UK’s financial services industry.

“Existing penetration testing services in the financial services sector do not address the more sophisticated cyber attacks on critical systems,” explained Ian Glover, president of CREST.  “STAR is threat intelligence based and has been developed to replicate the behaviours of those serious threat actors that pose a genuine threat to the UK financial services sector.”

Having now been fully and successfully assessed against CREST criteria to supply STAR services, Nettitude can now offer the very highest level of simulated cyber attack services to its clients.  As one of just four companies in the country that can currently offer security services at this level, Nettitude is fully committed to giving its customers the most rigorous and thorough understanding of any risks that their networks are exposed to and, ultimately, helping them to lock down any avenues of attack before they can be exploited by increasingly advanced and persistent cyber criminals. “Nettitude is extremely proud to part of the first tranche of CREST companies to be formally accredited under the STAR scheme,” said Rowland Johnson, Nettitude’s CEO.  “We see the STAR scheme as a benchmark for delivering some of the most sophisticated and robust assurance in the industry today.  Through procuring STAR services, organisations will have confidence that their testing programme uses current and up to date threat information to give a highly targeted assessment on their cyber security posture.”

About CREST
CREST is a not-for-profit accreditation body that represents the technical information security industry.  As part of this, CREST provides internationally recognised certifications for organisations and individuals providing penetration testing, cyber incident response and security architecture services.  Member companies undergo a rigorous assessment and certification process that looks at methodologies, legal and regulatory standards, staff vetting and data handling.  CREST qualified individuals have passed challenging professional level examinations that demonstrate their knowledge, skill and competence.  Company assessments and individual qualifications are underpinned by a strict and enforceable code of conduct.  All examinations and processes have been reviewed and approved by CESG, the Information Security arm of GCHQ.  CREST has member companies in a number of countries and a formally established Chapter in Australia For more information, visit: www.crest-approved.org

Chris white visits Nettitude

Chris White, MP for Warwick and Leamington visits Nettitude

Today (Monday 15th September) Chris White, MP for Warwick and Leamington, paid a visit to Nettitude to find out about the company – as a rapidly growing local business that is creating new jobs in the highly skilled field of cyber security – and to hear about the work that we are doing to protect organisations from cyber crime.  Cyber crime now affects everyone and is posing an increasingly serious threat to UK businesses.  Recent news stories about the theft of data and the collection of databases of user names and passwords by cyber criminals are also growing.  Our CEO, Rowland Johnson, welcomed Chris to Nettitude and explained the advanced ways in which we are helping our customers to keep their information as secure as possible, as well as our commitment to supporting the local area by creating new jobs via growth.

“Having visited Nettitude’s headquarters in Leamington Spa, I am delighted to see a local business that is heavily involved in helping tackle the growing threats posed by cyber crime in the UK and further afield,” said Chris White, MP for Warwick and Leamington.  “The team are clearly dedicated to supporting Britain’s cyber security export market and the fact that the business is continuing to create jobs in the area is excellent news for the local community.”

Nettitude Achieves ‘6 Star’ Penetration Testing Accreditation

Nettitude has added another string to its penetration testing bow today, following confirmation from CREST – the not-for-profit organisation that serves the needs of the technical information security marketplace – that our testing team has successfully achieved full CREST STAR (Simulated Target Attack & Response) status. STAR is arguably one of the most sophisticated approaches for delivering penetration testing. Through combining comprehensive threat data with a “Red Team” style of testing, STAR assessments are designed to deliver some of the strongest levels of assurance available to organisations across the globe.

Adding the STAR certifications to Nettitude’s existing CREST accreditations, means that it has reached the highest possible level of assurance, becoming one of only two companies in the UK to have achieved full CREST accreditation for supplying penetration testing services.

Ian Glover, President of CREST commented: “Adding the STAR certifications to Nettitude’s existing CREST accreditations, means that it has reached the highest possible level of assurance, becoming one of only two companies in the UK to have achieved full CREST accreditation for supplying penetration testing services.”

Rowland Johnson, our CEO, commented on the news earlier today: “This excellent achievement is testament to the dedication, skill and expertise of our testing team and further evidences our ability to deliver first-class penetration testing services to organisations that are faced with a host of ever-evolving and increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.”

Threat2Alert

New Cyber Managed Service Launches

Leading cyber security & risk specialists Nettitude have launched a brand-new cyber security event management service called Threat2Alert (www.threat2alert.com).

Threat2Alert is a cyber security platform, powered by Gartner magic quadrant vendor LogRhythm. The platform reviews events and alerts generated by the devices within a company’s environment. It has been designed and developed, to alleviate the need for organisations to invest in expensive on premise SIEM solutions. It will also help reduce the need to invest in dedicated personnel.

Nettitude’s Incident Response (IR) service has evolved significantly in 2014, with the introduction of ‘Threat2Alert’ and the awarded membership to CREST’s new CSIR scheme.

The CREST accredited incident response team operate across Nettitude’s EMEA and North American operations, to leverage the Threat2Alert system. The IR specialists help identify breaches, malicious attacks and unauthorized access in a proactive manner. This can assist customers in containing and eradicating these incidents before they become a wide spread problem.

Andy Collins, Head of IR, Nettitude commented: “Nettitude’s decision to launch Threat2Alert comes after we identified the need for a scalable managed SIEM service within the market.”

“Our clients were telling us time and time again that they wanted a service which combined all the tried and tested functionality of LogRhythm, but was managed and delivered by the trusted expertise of Nettitude’s cyber specialist consultants”, added Collins.

Stuart Quinsey, Director, Business Development & Channels – EMEA, LogRhythm added: “Having worked closely with Nettitude in recent years, the launch of their Threat2Alert managed SIEM capability only enhances their already comprehensive market offering.

“Many customers now accept that point solutions are no longer enough to tackle today’s complex threat landscape; instead increased control and visibility is the key to dramatically reducing risk and exposure. This has resulted in a clear shift as businesses are increasingly looking to partner with specialists, such as Nettitude, for the most critical aspects of their cyber threat mitigation strategies”, Quinsey concluded.
